Versatile On The Net looks poised for big run
He seems equally at home over fences and flights and should arrive here in good shape, following a spin on the flat at Bellewstown a week ago.
The nine-year-old, having his first outing since the Punchestown Festival in April, was noted doing all his best work at the end of that extended mile and a half to finish a creditable third behind the heavily-backed Rocket Ship and Port Jeff.
He ran a cracking race over hurdles at Punchestown in what was a very competitive handicap. On The Net was only grabbed late when beaten half a length into second by Charlies First and a repeat of that effort will certainly see him go close.
David Wachman’s Aliceinwonderland, who has shown a liking for this track in the past, is the one to be on in the Deloitte Handicap.
She produced a career-best effort here last month, making all the running to beat Makishma and Master Marvel.
The four-year-old seemed to very much enjoy those tactics and, well drawn in ten, has every chance of defying a 6lbs rise in the weights.
A note of caution, however, is that a marked deterioration in the surface would be no help to the daughter of Danehill.
The Coolmore Ivan Denisovich Maiden is a moderate race and Colm Murphy’s Miss Maximus may be capable of delivering.
