Poste can deliver

DECLAN MCDONOGH and Kevin Prendergast, fresh from a double at Roscommon on Monday, can combine to give us a winning nap with Washington Poste in the Ballymote Maiden at Sligo this evening.

Poste can deliver

You can refer to the fact the selection has a moderate draw and may find the six and a half furlongs journey shorter than ideal.

No argument there, but the credit side is he's on the upgrade, travels well through his races and is likely to find plenty for pressure.

The son of Halling showed nothing in one outing as a juvenile and has clearly benefited from being gelded. Washington Poste began his campaign with a promising fourth behind well-regarded Followmyfootsteps over an extended seven furlongs at Tipperary.

He was then stepped up to nine furlongs at Ballinrobe subsequently when finishing two lengths second behind Vision Of Grandeur.

That race could hardly have been working out any better. Vision Of Grandeur went on to record a facile success at Downpatrick and Temlett, five lengths adrift of Washington Poste in third, scored readily at Killarney last week.

Boule Masquee and Step It Out are others to consider, but the real worry is Demrot Weld's Drifting Snow.

She has one piece of form which would make her a certainty, having split Eagle Mountain and Creachadoir at the Curragh a year ago.

Drifting Snow has never got anywhere near repeating that effort, however, and was quite disappointing on her reappearance, seventh to Extraterrestrial at Cork.

If Lace Your Boots puts his best foot forward than he is very much the most likely winner of the Hunt Motors Suzuki Maiden Hurdle.

Returning from a good break now, he became most frustrating and preference is for Willie Mullins' The Patriarch Game.

Successful in an ordinary bumper at Fairyhouse last time, he is clearly no star but the fact the five-year-old was given a couple of pops over flights early in the year is an obvious plus.
