Charlies has First rate chance

CHARLIES FIRST rates the bet of the day in the Dolans' Warehouse Hurdle at Limerick this evening.

Charlies has First rate chance

Peter Casey's charge is a tough sort and, with Barry Geraghty renewing acquaintances, the seven-year-old should prove hard to beat.

Geraghty was in the plate when the selection landed a competitive handicap at the Punchestown Festival.

He stayed on strongly in the closing stages to beat On The Net a hard-earned half a length and this certainly looks an easier assignment.

Adding to one's confidence is the fact that horses who have been successful in handicaps run unpenalised in this contest.

Kevin Prendergast's mildly frustrating Regalline is worth another chance in the ladbrokes.com EBF Maiden.

She made her debut over six furlongs at the Curragh and then stepped up to a mile for her next two runs.

Back at the Curragh, Regalline was beaten a length and a quarter into second by Athenian Way and at Gowran Park last times finished two lengths fourth to Joshua's Princess.

She travelled particularly powerfully into the straight at Gowran, but found the closing stages hard work. This six and a half furlongs now could prove ideal.

Willie Mullins' Taipan's Way is the choice in the Avocent International Bumper. He has plenty to prove, but there was sufficient promise in his slast outing to merit the vote.

Taipan's Way was fourth behind Jered, Cuchulainn's Son and Cloone Rocket at Fairyhouse and that's working out reasonably well.

Cuchulainn's Son went on to take a creditable fourth behind Mick The Man in a hot heat at Punchestown, while Cloone Rocket has since scored at Punchestown.
