Try a shot of Bourbon

HOUSE Of BOURBON, getting his ground over jumps for the first time, can land the nap in the Racecourse Membership Maiden Hurdle at Tipperary this evening.

Try a shot of Bourbon

Charlie Swan's gelding has shown steady improvement in three outings over flights and, at worst, should go close.

He was taking on older horses at Gowran Park last time when producing his best effort to date. House Of Bourbon was beaten four lengths into second by Norwich Boy and that was a step up on a previous third to Earmark at Wexford.

The Rainbow Quest gelding was a useful sort on the level last season when trained by John Oxx. He ran several decent races, including taking a maiden at Bellewstown by seven lengths, and the key then was a quick surface.

Albert Einstein, who cost punters a bundle on his first run of the campaign at Cork, is given another chance in the Tipperary Racecourse Supporters' Club Maiden. The Danehill colt, who showed a lot of promise as a juvenile, was backed from 11-8 to corresponding odds on, but trailed in over six and a half lengths fourth behind David Wachman's newcomer, Chariots Of Fire.

He did get badly hampered over a furlong down, but was struggling at that stage in any case. Perhaps, Albert Einstein needed the outing and is entitled to the benefit of the doubt, at least for the moment.

Tommy Stack's Shivering is the one to beat in the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Fillies Maiden. It took a long time for her to realise what was required when fourth to Porto Marmay on her debut at Cork ten days ago.

The first section of the Bumper brings together two potentially smart sorts in Oola Lad and Your Sum Man.

Oola Lad was fourth to Raven's Run at Naas in February, while Your Sum Man was in decent company when third to Colm Murphy's well-regarded Kimberlite King and Woodbine Willie at Navan last month. Both those races were run in testing conditions and it will be a lot different now. The nod falls on Oola Lad.
