Lost Time found a winning opportunity

LOST TIME, who came back to something approaching his best at Clonmel two weeks ago, returns to the track this evening with real prospects in the Powerstown Chase.

Lost Time found a winning opportunity

He showed nothing in his first three outings of the campaign, but there was real sparkle in this latest effort and, if building on that, can enjoy a first success since taking his novice chase at Downpatrick in November of 2005.

At Clonmel, Lost Time travelled and jumped really well and was taken to the front by Alan Crowe early in the straight.

In the end, he was outspeeded by the patiently ridden Dantes Reef, going under by four and a half lengths, with the smart In The High Grass a further half a length away in third.

Lost Time is entitled to come on plenty, considering it was his first run since the middle of January.

Dermot Weld's lightly-raced Lisselan Eagle is the choice in the Fethard Maiden Hurdle.

He ran just three times on the flat, taking a maiden at Limerick, and was strongly fancied to get off the mark at the first time of asking over flights at Limerick at Christmas.

He performed with a lot of promise, when beaten a length and a quarter into second spot by Jayo. The selection has been given plenty of time to recover and this nicer surface should work in his favour.

Joe Crowley's Rose Of Clare, Barry Geraghty is a significant booking, has a sporting chance in the Ballypatrick Handicap Hurdle.

She has had just one recent pop, finishing a tailed-off tenth in the contest won by The Halfway Bar at Fairyhouse towards the end of February.

The heavy ground then was all against her and Rose Of Clare is much better judged on her defeat of Talkingtonbates and the subsequent winner, Clearwaterdreamer, at Kilbeggan in September.
