EBAZIYAN got the Irish off to a flying start in the Anglo Irish Bank Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham yesterday, but the grey’s success was met by an almost deathly silence as he crossed the line, giving rider, Davy Condon, a first Festival winner.

It would an understatement to say he had little or no chance before the race, having come here on the back of a moderate win in a maiden at Thurles.

To put that effort into context, Jumeirah Scarer, who dead-heated with Dancing Hero for second, a length behind Ebaziyan, made no show at Fairyhouse last Saturday.
