SUBLIMITY is likely to work at the Curragh today after Sunday’s meeting at Leopardstown was abandoned.

The seven-year-old, who has been well supported for the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle, was due to gallop after racing at Leopardstown.

However, heavy rain claimed the fixture and trainer John Carr is now looking at an alternative venue.

He said: “I think we will probably work him at the Curragh tomorrow, then again at home on Thursday.

“We want to give him one more serious piece this week and then he will travel over on Saturday.

“The horse is in good form in himself and there’s no trouble with just over a week to go now.”

Sublimity, twice a Listed winner on the Flat, finished fourth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham last season and ran out an easy winner on his only start this term at Navan.

Carr’s charge is a 16-1 chance for the Festival after being a 50-1 chance with Cashmans just weeks ago.

Hereford have called a precautionary inspection for 8am ahead of today’s meeting.

Clerk of the course Gemma Charrington will take a look at the track after substantial rain in recent days. She explained: “We have had 10 millimetres of rain since 8.30 this morning and further rain is forecast.

“But we are quite a free-draining track and the rain is forecast to stop between 9pm and 10pm so if it does work out like that, we should be OK.”
