Newmill set to return to action later this month

CHELTENHAM two mile Champion Chaser Newmill, who hasn't been seen since returning to action when fourth of four behind Iktitaf in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown in the middle of November, could have his pre-Festival run later this month.

Trainer, John Murphy, indicated yesterday that the nine-year-old will be entered in three races in January.

Said Murphy: “He won the Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles last year and that will be considered again on the 18th. The problem this time round is he will be heavily penalised.
