Carnbridge set to lift Grassick

IT hasn’t been the best of campaigns thus far for Michael Grassick, who has just seven winners to his credit this season.

Carnbridge set to lift Grassick

His four-year-old Carnbridge, however, is fancied to add a much needed success to the total in the Knockcroghery Maiden at Roscommon this evening.

The son of Giant’s Casuseway showed some promise on his first two outings, but stepped up on those efforts on his latest appearance at the Curragh last month.

Different tactics were adopted on this occasion, he was on the pace throughout, and Carnbridge kept going well in the closing stages before going down by a length to Aidan O’Brien’s well supported Soar With Eagles.

The form has been working out really nicely, with third placed Rajeh scoring in fine style at Galway.

Savante and Yellow Ridge filled seventh and eighth spots respectively and they both scored subsequently as well.

The danger is Symbol Of Peace, who had Carnbridge two lengths behind when beaten two lengths by Nasafar at Navan in the middle of June.

But Symbol Of Peace hasn’t been seen in the meantime, whereas the selection went on to produce a career-best effort.

Only four are set to face the starter in the J F Hanley Group Chase and it can be safely narrowed down to Kit Carson and Star Horse.

Preference is for Kit Carson, who may have needed the run when going down by eight lengths to the smart Gemini Lucy at Galway.
