Electrocutionist ready to set the sparks flying
Recent Group-race victories for Echo Of Light and Librettist have provided the team with a much-needed tonic, and they are hoping Electrocutionist can give them further cause for celebration in tomorrow’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot.
Racing manager Simon Crisford believes the horses have turned the corner and he is looking forward to a big run from the Red Ransom entire, with stablemate Cherry Mix set to be employed as a pacemaker.
“He’s very well at the moment and we are very pleased with him, so touch wood it’s all systems go as he seems to be in excellent condition,” he told At The Races.
“The horses are performing better now – they seem to be finishing in their races which is obviously something that was lacking at the start of the season.
“Cherry Mix is a pacemaker as we want to make sure it isn’t a falsely run race and I’m sure all the other contenders will appreciate that as well,” he went on.
“When Heart’s Cry won in Dubai he looked excellent and he’s going to be a really hard horse to beat, although I think we have to respect all the opposition and it’s going to be a cracking race.”
William Muir’s Enforcer will take his chance in the midsummer showpiece having acquitted himself well in similarly lofty company all season.
Regular partner Martin Dwyer is looking forward to the race but acknowledges the scale of the task facing his mount.
“The King George looks a very good race but he deserves to take his chance and who knows?” he said.
“We’re under no illusions – it’s a very good race, horses like Electrocutionist and Hurricane Run are world-class animals – but there are only five rivals and he deserves to be in the line-up.
“He could run a big race and get placed, and if he does we’ll be over the moon.
“There is a pacemaker in there so there should be a nice even pace and that’ll suit us as he likes to arrive late on the scene.”
