CONNECTIONS of Ad Valorem had to endure some tense moments before the colt was confirmed the winner of an incident-packed running of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot yesterday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained 13-2 chance had got home by a length and a half from the unlucky-in-running Court Masterpiece, with Proclamation a neck back in third and Peeress a close fourth.

But the placed horses had got tightened up in the closing stages as Kieren Fallon made his move on the outside on Ad Valorem, edging left in the process.
