AIDAN O’BRIEN believes George Washington will cope with the rain-softened ground in the Boylesports 2000 Guineas at the Curragh today.

The brilliant winner of the Stan James-sponsored equivalent at Newmarket bids to become the first horse since Rock Of Gibraltar in 2002 to complete the English/Irish Classic double.

“He is in good form. Obviously the ground could be very soft which would be far from ideal but most of the year the ground has been soft here,” said the Ballydoyle trainer, seeking a fifth Irish 2000 Guineas.
