Veteran Alcazar a cut above rivals

ALCAZAR may be in the autumn of his outstanding career but he still looks capable of landing the Hesmonds Stud Sagaro Stakes at Lingfield today.

Even if Hughie Morrison’s stable star was a three-mile chaser he would be considered a veteran but to still be contesting these top-level Flat races is a great credit to connections.

Alcazar is now an 11-year-old but a victory in the Group One Prix Royal Oak at Longchamp last October shows he is as well as ever and despite having to carry a penalty, he still looks a cut above most of these rivals.
