Kinane moves on to 64 mark with a double

MICK KINANE is setting a strong pace at the top of the jockeys table as he chases a thirteenth championship and he brought his domestic score for the season to 64 when riding a double on Castledale and Sheer Tenby at Gowran Park last night.

Castledale, trained by David Wachman for a syndicate comprising of Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary, Sean Barrett and Colm Moloney, defied top weight in the seven furlong nursery when getting the better of Granted Wish by half a length.

Kinane followed up when Sheer Tenby, winner of the McDonogh Handicap at Galway two years ago, landed the one mile Gowran Park Golf and Leisure Handicap by one length for trainer Paul Roche who said “this horse has dropped down the handicap. But he needed to as his had problems with his legs.”
