Make it Montevideo

JOHN OXX’S Montevideo, who will be partnered by Johnny Murtagh for the first time, gets the nap to land the Irish Jockeys’ Association Maiden at Leopardstown tonight.

It has to be said this is a poor card, featuring just six races, including three near impossible-to-solve handicaps, and it really isn’t good enough for a Grade One track.

Montevideo is no world beater, on all known form, but should now be ready to strike in this moderate event.
