Total Enjoyment on easy list after scoping dirty
Tom Cooperâs mare, who landed a gamble when winning the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at last seasonâs Cheltenham Festival, made a successful start to her hurdling career at Down Royal earlier this month.
She was sent off the 5-4 favourite for yesterdayâs Grade One contest but weakened tamely approaching the second-last flight after vying for the lead from the start and finished a well-beaten sixth behind Wild Passion.
A subsequent veterinary examination revealed she scoped dirty and she is now undergoing treatment.
âShe scoped clean on Thursday but was found to have mucus in her yesterday,â Cooper explained yesterday.
âShe travelled well and jumped super and she didnât seem to mind the soft ground. But when push came to shove, that was it.
âShe didnât get knocked about by Barry Geraghty, which was a big help. He knew there was something wrong.
âIt wasnât her true running but it could be worse, there could be no reason.
âSheâs on a course of antibiotics and weâll just have to take it from there.
âWe live to fight another day and weâll play it by ear and have a look at her around Christmas.â As a result of her Fairyhouse run, Total Enjoyment has been pushed out to 20-1 from 6-1 favourite by Ladbrokes for the Letheby & Christopher Supreme Novicesâ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
