BRITISH show jumping legend Malcolm Pyrah is one of five candidates in the frame to become the next Irish show jumping team manager.

Pyrah was among six people interviewed for the job, on Thursday, with one name already dropped from the list of candidates. The other four seeking the position are: Robert Splaine, Tom Slattery, Jack Doyle and Tommy Brennan.

Pyrah, 64, confirmed yesterday that he was “in discussions” with the Equestrian Federation of Ireland (EFI). However, he added that he was awaiting further talks before he could be considered to have formally applied for the job.
