Fonic a confident choice to get off mark

Kevin Prendergast's filly caught a real tartar at Limerick a week ago, going down by five lengths to Winged Arrow.

Even though well beaten, there was plenty to like about the manner in which the selection stuck to her task up the straight, indicating that stepping up a furlong in trip now will not be a problem.

Previously, Lady Fonic ran another solid race when runner-up to this afternooon's Epsom Oaks candidate, Dream To Dress, at Fairyhouse and a repeat of either effort will see her safely home in front.

Jessica Harrington's Atelios gets the nod in the Classic Cliche Maiden Hurdle. He ran prominently for most of the journey, before fading in the closing stages, when sixth behind Articulation at Clonmel last month.

The four-year-old performed like a horse who was in need of the outing and the form was boosted earlier in the week when third-placed Masrahi scored at Ballinrobe.

Charlie Swan's Mama Jaffa has a decent chance in the Rocketts' Seahorse Tavern Handicap Hurdle.

She warmed up for this with an excellent third to Flashy Beau and Tous Les Tables on the level at Fairyhouse last time.

Pelagias Star, raised just one pound for winning an admittedly moderate maiden by 11 lengths at Downpatrick, should go well in the Mary Grimes Catering Handicap.
