You won’t go wrong with Mr Wong
The seven year-old has finished in the first four in five of his seven races this year and although he has only one success - when making his debut on the flat at Cork in April - he has shown very promising form of late over fences, finishing a three quarters of a length second to Forrestfield over this afternoon’s trip at Punchestown on Sunday when hot favourite.
That race will have sharpened him up and he should score at the expense of the Pat Nolan trained Lord Seskin.
This could be the second leg of a double for Jessica as she will be strongly fancied to land the Maiden Hurdle with Soraleda. The seven year-old finished third to Flagship Queen and Kilinjar in a two mile and three event over at Kilbeggan last Friday and with the quality of the opposition not in the same class, the Toulon filly should go all the way, even though she has three furlongs further to travel.
Charlie Swan makes the long journey north with two runners. Innisfree contests the opening Ardglass Maiden Hurdle and Todaysmyday the last race, the Anglo Printers (Pro-Am) Flat Race, and will fancy the chances of both.
Innisfree showed that he is back to his best when winning a Bumper at Cork last month. He is sure to have been well schooled over flights and if he can get his jumping right is sure to make a bold bid for honours.
Swan’s Todaystheday looks to have a simpler task in the Bumper. He finished a creditable third to Snack Box and Kilcash Native at Clonmel last week when having his first outing since last April and was clearly in need of the race. It will have been of immense benefit to him and he can go all the way this time.
The Tricky Bricky could be the one to follow him home as he has shown promise in his last few outings.
