Newton Abbot meeting under threat
The going was described yesterday as soft, heavy with waterlogging in places. It has been raining all day and more is forecast.
“Up to about 4pm we had 16 millimetres today on top of 21 over the weekend. Prior to that we had a relatively wet week,” said Newton Abbot estate manager Jason Loosemore.
“This morning the going was soft, good to soft in places, but we’ve had 16mm on top of that and the course has not taken it at all well.
“We had been predicted 10mm, which we thought we could take, but it has made the going very testing. Basically it is waterlogged with water lying on the course, and further rain is forecast.”
