Euro to lead the way

EURO LEADER gets the nap to take the Frank Hannon Memorial Handicap Chase on a wickedly competitive card at Roscommon this evening.

Euro to lead the way

It will be the selection’s first venture into this company, but the seven-year-old, arguably, doesn’t appear too harshly treated! Euro Leader got off the mark over fences in a moderate event at the first time of asking at Limerick and was then highly tried in two subsequent races.

He ran well for a long way behind Like-A-Butterfly in the Powers’ Gold Cup at Fairyhouse and was then predictably outclassed when a well-beaten fourth to War Of Attrition in a Grade One at Punchestown. This is much more his grade and Euro Leader may well improve significantly now that he gets a decent surface.

Lady Singspiel, surely a long way down the pecking order at John Oxx’s, is fancied to squeeze through the opening Come Racing In Roscommon Fillies Maiden. She was beaten half a length by Hard Rock City at Navan earlier in the month, in very testing conditions.

John Murphy’s inmates are in good shape and he has prospects of a double with In The Ribbons and Lemonfield.

In The Ribbons, down in class following her third to Deyrnia at Naas, is the choice in the Lynam Merit Maiden, while Lemonfield, a creditable second to Noel Meade’s Tooofarback at Punchestown, gets the nod in the Bumper.

All First, noted doing her best work at the end of an extended mile at Killarney last week, is capable of a big run in the second section of the Red Mills Horses Care Tubes Handicap. She runs here off 44, having at one stage been rated as high as 68.
