Bargain buy African Sahara too hot for Sandown rivals

BARGAIN buy African Sahara gave rookie trainer Debbie Mountain the third winner of her career when the colt struck at Sandown Park yesterday.

Mountain, who rents 20 boxes in Newmarket from fellow handler Greg Chung, has called her base Sahara Stables in honour of this horse.

And the 16-1 chance did the business again in today’s £25,000 contest, leading a furlong out under Gary Carter and holding the powerful late thrust of York Cliff by a neck.
