Zoom in on Zarata

JOHN OXX and Michael Kinane, who have made a fine start to the campaign, can combine for a double at Gowran Park this afternoon, assuming the meeting passes a 7.00 am inspection.

The duo team up with the once-raced Zarata in the Archersgrove Maiden and the daughter of Sadler's Wells gets the nap.

She made her debut at the Curragh 17 days ago, very much catching the eye in what may have been a useful contest.

Running over a mile in testing conditions, Zarata was noted doing all her best work at the end, finishing just under nine lengths fifth behind stable companion, Hazariya.

That form got a major boost when Hazariya steeped up in grade to take a Group Three at the Curragh on Sunday. Travelling an extra half mile now should be a big help to the selection!

Oxx and Kinane can land the earlier far more competitive Bennettsbridge Handicap with Dolce Voche.

She was a strong market order on her seasonal debut at Cork at the end of March, but was beaten half a length into second by Amongst Amigos.

That winner has since produced two cracking efforts, including scoring by six lengths at the Curragh on Sunday, and Dolce Voche faced a difficult task trying to concede him almost two stone.

The dropped-in-class Maria Luisa should be hard to beat in the Leighlinbridge Fillies Maiden.

Kevin Prendergast's charge was beaten half a length by Hazariya at the Curragh last time and the ground won't hold any fears for her.
