Standard Scratch hard to beat

OWEN McKENNA, who trained Boherduff Light to win the Guinness Trophy at Curraheen Park recently, returns tonight in search of more modest pickings.
Standard Scratch hard to beat

Standard Scratch represents the in-form trainer in the Bantry Stakes and should oblige on his first visit to the track.

He disappointed last time out at Shelbourne Park, but before that led all the way when winning in 29.31 at Clonmel. That would probably equate to a 29.00 run here and trap one is an added bonus.

Liam Dwan's Smooth Air is fast away judging by his sprint form at Thurles and could be anything over the standard trip. He could be the 'bogey' for Standard Scratch.

Sail Away could claim an overdue win in the second-semi final. Christy O'Callaghan's runner caught a tartar last time out when running into the very smart Persian Pride and was beaten five and a half lengths in a fast 17.74

She meets nothing of that calibre here, but Fiva Flyer, second a neck in 29.333 at Limerick, is a clear danger.
