Torpedo scuttles Grand Prix rivals

A record crowd in sun drenched Dunmanway yesterday saw outsider Torpedo, driven by Donal Murphy, land the final of the West Cork Bottling Grand Prix on the second day of the Ballabuidhe Festival.

Torpedo scuttles Grand Prix rivals

Last year’s winner, Staly Princed, tried to make all but was collared close home by the winner.

Torpedo is trained in Castlegregory, Co. Kerry, by Peter Hennessy, for Corkman, James O'Sullivan. It is the first time ever that the winner of this prestigious race was trained in the Kingdom. By The Way finished third while the favourite, Fools Gold, never got into the hunt after a bad start.
