Time to cash in on Roam

TIME TO ROAM, a horse who has cost his supporters a bundle, gets the nap to take the Santel Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick this afternoon.

Time to cash in on Roam

Three times of late he has been supported to get off the mark over flights and has failed to do the business.

The latest came at Kilbeggan a week ago, when he couldn’t cope with the progressive She’s So Dainty, going down by three parts of a length.

Continuing to follow such horses as Time To Roam is usually a recipe for disaster, but he did run on strongly enough at Kilbeggan and should be well suited now to stepping up another two furlongs in trip.

Another bonus is that the opposition looks decidely weak and it is now or never for Dermot Weld’s four-year-old.

Bottom weight Heroism is the choice in the Technical Services Demolition Handicap over 11 furlongs.

Successful twice already this campaign, Sheena Collins’ charge may just have found a mile and a half further than he wanted to travel when runner-up behind Time On Your Side at Tramore in August.

Baikal, beaten by the heavily-backed but subsequently discredited Rodybolands at Sligo, is on a handy mark in the first section of the Mascott Construction Handicap Hurdle and gets the nod.

The second is best left to Ashlawn, trained by in-form Harry Rogers. He ran well enough on the level through the summer and may be an improved performer since last tried over flights!
