Be definite and rely on Defi

KEVIN PRENDERGAST’S Defi can win a fascinating little four-runner Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Race at Tipperary this evening.

Be definite and rely on Defi

He has improved with every run and this relatively experienced colt should prove a tough nut to crack!

Following a fine effort behind two smart horses in Carnegie Hall and Laudable at the Curragh, the son of Rainbow Quest made no mistake at the Galway meeting last week.

Ridden from the front for the first time, Defi made all to beat well-regarded Bobs Pride and Trueheart by three parts of a length and a length and a half.

Aidan O’Brien’s newcomer, Falstaff, is the worry.

The son of Montjeu, of course, could be anything, but will have to be a fair bit above average to cope with the selection.

Joe Crowley’s Belle Artiste, having her sixth outing of the campaign in the Ashtown Median Auction Maiden, runs over five furlongs for the first time.

Certainly, she is a most frustrating sort, having filled the runner-up berth on no less than four occasions.

She did, however, show plenty of speed over six at Leopardstown last time out, finishing a creditable sixth to Silk And Scarlet, and this represents a big drop in class.

Pat Flynn’s Nic’s Colleen, with in-form Rory Cleary aboard, can give us a big run in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.

Her latest effort, behind Ucanstep at Ballinrobe, is best ingnored, six furlongs round that track was all too sharp, and Nic’s Colleen is much better judged on a smooth success over an extended mile at Killarney.

There are a couple of interesting newcomers set to line up for the Bumper, but the one to beat is Philip Rothwell’s Ballybeg Glen.

He was beaten three lengths by a useful sort in Mac Three at Roscommon in June and the form was boosted when Nancys Bridge, a further eight lengths away in third, went on to score subsequently.
