A half-brother to connections’ Cheltenham Festival winner Young Spartacus, the seven-year-old was always destined to go chasing, but has proved a decent type over hurdles already.
After picking up two novice wins in his first three outings over timber, he went on to run well in a Grade Two race at Aintree before finishing a good third behind The Dark Lord at Cheltenham on his only start last term.
The main concern about Rackalackey’s prospects in the Weatherbys Bank Beginners’ Chase is his latest start was some 14 months ago.
However, he is clearly a nice prospect and this modest contest over the bigger obstacles should provide the ideal opportunity for him to get off the mark with a win.
