Showbiz cango one better

DAVID WACHMAN currently houses some of the best juveniles in the country and one of that age group, Showbiz, can land the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden for the Tipperary handler at Limerick this evening.

The once-raced daughter of Sadler’s Wells went off favourite to make a winning debut at Roscommon earlier in the month, but was beaten a length into second place by La Maitresse.

Showbiz took time getting the hang of what was required but was doing solid work at the end of seven furlongs, giving every indication her turn would not be long denied.

The form is already working out quite nicely. La Maitresse went on to perform with credit when third to Silk And Scarlet in a Listed race at Leopardstown while fourth placed, Roman Rose, won next time at Tipperary.

Ruby Walsh is a significant booking for Big King in the Limerick Live 95FM Maiden Hurdle and if the eight-year-old puts his best foot forward will make short work of this opposition.

The selection produced a career-best at Punchestown in May, beaten a neck by Major Burns, and that was far in advance of anything he had done prior to that.

Big King, however, has since only managed eighth of ten finishers behind Rory Sunset at Down Royal, when subsequently found to be lame.

Tom Hogan’s Rosnagowloge, who disappointed more often than not in bumpers, can enjoy a second success over flights in the Personal Protection Novice Hurdle.

He looked an entirely different proposition with a set of obstacles in front of him on this track 19 days ago, strolling to a five lengths defeat of Lough Ville.

Hogan has possibilities of a double with Culmore Lady, beaten a length by hot-pot Woody Glen at Ballinrobe on Monday, in the Stanley Racing Handicap Hurdle.
