Pennys worth watching
Coming in as a reserve for Game Mate, Pennys Worth, winner of three of her four races all at Clonmel made short work of her rivals. Fast away, she led Shift Razzali into the bend. Blue Eyed Escort took up the chase early in the back straight but never held out any hope of getting to Pennys Worth, a half lengths winner in 28.57 85 spots better than her previous best.
Chipp Lad, after two wins over the sprint trip, successfully moved up to the standard trip in heat 2. The John Kiely trained dog shaded the bend from Jamaican Danny. The latter then ran wide between bends, hampering third placed Gowlane Silver in the process. This left Chipp Lad clear of Burgess Kewell and although the latter ran on strongly from halfway he had too much to do and went under by two lengths in 28.76.
Identity Line took a messy heat three in a modest 29.66. The winner grabbed his chance between the last two bends and stayed on well up the straight to beat the running on Ceili Rio by a neck in 29.66.
Abbeyside Blonde, last in each of her two most recent races at Clonmel and Waterford, got back on the winning trail in heat four.
Kaiser Soso took a flier from his middle draw but was threading water by the third bend where the winner swept past to eventually beat Top Villa by four lengths in 29.19.
Persian Ruler made it five wins from as many runs (three at Youghal, two at Curraheen) with an impressive success in the concluding 550. Fast away, the 4/5 chance ran out a very easy eight and a half lengths winner from Bregogue Brian in 29.94.
Entries close today for the Bantry Sweepstake. The 525 yard event is for dogs that have never bettered 29.30 (500-600yds). Heats on Thursday.
