ChippLad can stake claim
The card features the first round of the Kasco Stakes - confined to 29.40 class - but before the night is out things are sure to hot up with quite a few certain to dip under that mark. Chipp Lad looks sure to be in that category and could go on to have a say at the business end of the stake.
The John Kiely runner, an easy 17.83 sprint winner on his debut here in December, followed up with another excellent 17.70 recently. Behind him then was Brookpark Robbie, who franked the form with a sparkling 28.71 win last week.
Connections probably always had an eye on this stake and as the only wide seed Chipp Lad looks certain of a clear run and could post a fast time.
The danger could be Comantagh Lad. He has run consistently enough in Kilkenny but is unlikely to trouble the selection for early pace.
Coomlagane Nice is one of a very good litter and could add to Paddy Kelly's batting average in the third heat. However, he faces another 'invader' in the shape of Proven Style and she is not being sent from Kilkenny to view the scenery.
Pat O'Conor's Persian Ruler looks an exciting prospect and will take all the beating in the last race. He made it four from four when winning in a fast 17.74 on February 18 and that suggests he possesses enough early pace to draw clear of this field.
