Dairyland Tom delivers - but not in the manner expected

DAIRYLAND TOM, the star of the opening round of the AIB Bank Stakes when a runaway winner in 28.64, duly followed up in the opening heat of Saturday's second round ... but not in the expected manner.

The Peter Cronin trainer dog, boasting a 50% strike rate (5/10) going into the race, was hammered from evens to 4/5 in the ring with one of the more prominent layers prepared to take on all and sundry.

He didn't get the 'screamer' he was looking for but there were a few hairy moments for Dairyland Tom's supporters nevertheless.
