Joint winners

SUPERB riding performances, which yielded each of them a Cheltenham winner, has won jockeys David Casey and Robert Widger the accolade of joint Park Hotel Waterford Sport Star of the Month for March.

Casey landed the SunAlliance Chase on board Rule Supreme at the inviting odds of 25/1, while Widger steered Native Emperor home in the four mile National Hunt Chase for the biggest victory of his career to date.

A winner also of the January sport star award, this is Casey’s fourth time to pick up Waterford’s most prestigious sporting accolade. For Widger, however, it is a notable first.
