Kinane to score on solid Zarandja

ZARANDJA is the nap choice to provide the solution to the 18-runner Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden at Fairyhouse this afternoon.

John Oxx’s charge has run two solid races and was distinctly unlucky at Galway on her second appearance.

The daughter of King’s Best began with a highly creditable fifth behind two smart sorts in Saoire and Mona Lisa at Leopardstown in the middle of last month.

Then, just over three weeks ago, the selection was beaten a neck by Gilda Lily at Galway when jinking away to her left down in the dip, losing valuable ground in the process.

She was noted doing all her best work at the end and it will be no great surprise should Michael Kinane make plenty use of her from a favourable 15 draw.

Feature event is the Listed El Gran Senor Stakes, a rather tasty mid-week prize for a largely National Hunt Track!

There are two English challengers, Ridder and Bibury Flyer. Ridder took an ordinary maiden last time and Bibury Flyer will be having the 18th outing of the campaign, so it may pay to look elsewhere for the likely winner.

That comes in the shape of Aidan O’Brien’s Rowan Tree, who cut little ice when seventh of seven behind Dubawi in the National Stakes at the Curragh last time.

He is, admittedly, no great shakes, but will surely find this far more to his liking than attempting to match strides with Group One company!

Jamie Spencer partners Rowan Tree and also has prospects aboard another Ballydoyle inmate, the once-raced Queen in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden.

The daughter of Sadler’s Wells is clearly no star, but a close fouth to Upperville at Cork in July entitles her to serious consideration in this class.
