Smullen loses his appeal

PAT SMULLEN yesterday lost his appeal against the one-day ban imposed on him by the stewards at the Curragh on Sunday.

He was suspended after winning the Dubai Golf Nursery on Hidden Charm, the stewards finding he had ridden carelessly in the closing stages.

Already set to miss the opening stage of the Galway Festival on Monday, he will now be on the sidelines on Tuesday as well.
