The full Monty too much for rivals!

KILKENNY and Tipperary, the keenest of rivals on the hurling fields, yesterday combined to win the Waterloo Cup with the Cork bred Why You Monty.
The full Monty too much for rivals!

It was a famous victory for this brindled dog which was nominated by Dunboyne, Co. Meath bookmaker Bernard Barry. Why You Monty ran in Mrs Angela Condon's name but changed hands soon after scoring at Clonakilty on January 11 for Con Guiney. He was then transferred to the care of Tipperary Town's Michael O'Donovan, whose sixth success in this oldest of greyhound classics confirmed his status as the undisputed modern king of Altcar.

Why You Monty is currently owned by Seamus Neary, Pat Loughlin and Billy Dowling, a trio of prominent Kilkenny personalities who backed him at 40/1. Loud applause greeted Mr Neary when the historic Waterloo chain was placed around his neck at the presentation ceremony.
