Lake Vostock gets the vote
The son of Darshaan showed a little promise on his debut at Naas in early June, eighth of 15 behind Hippodrome.
He reappeared at Bellewstown last month and, clearly benefiting from that initial effort, was touched off late and beaten a short head by the five-year-old, Charlies First.
The form got a minor boost at Cork on Sunday when sixth placed Womans Chat did the business.
Experienced handicapper Bowerman is the obvious danger. He went under by half a length to the useful Morning Glow at Killarney and a repeat of that will see him go close in this moderate event.
I harbour doubts about Bowerman's ability to get a mile and a half, however, and with no such worries regarding Lake Vostock, he gets the nod.
Eddie Lynam's De Roberto is fancied to shrug off top weight in the Riverstown Claiming Race.
The Barathea colt finished third to An Tadh and Mama Angela at Roscommon and that is a contest which is working out nicely.
Both the first and second then have gone in again in the meantime, as well as the fifth, Chennai, who scored at Galway last week.
Michael Grassick's Misskinta, fourth in the particular Roscommon event, is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Auction Maiden.
