Fanshawe ace revs up for festival
The James Fanshawe-trained grey won on his jumping debut over two miles at Windsor in November and he followed up here over an extra three and a half furlongs.
Reveillez, who carries the colours of J P McManus, was sent off at 8-11 and pulled his way to the front leaving the back straight.
Jumping well in the lead, he drew clear approaching the last flight under Robert Thornton and was not unduly pressed to hold Pretty Star at bay by two lengths.
Jacko Fanshawe, representing her husband, said: “I’m delighted with that because he’s had a couple of little setbacks since Windsor. He had a flu vac which put him back and then he scoped dirty.
“Robert was thrilled with him. He stays well and really gallops and one always hopes they might get to Cheltenham.”
Merrick Francis saddled his first winner for nearly two years when Fard Du Moulin Mas took the Old Comrades Racing Pigeon Show Handicap Hurdle.
