FRANCES CROWLEY trained her first winner since moving to the Curragh when Rockwell Island landed the Mike Cronin Beginners ’Chase in the hands of Ruby Walsh at Killarney last night.

Rockwell Island had the best of the ground in the straight, challenging wide of everything else. The tactics worked perfectly, as he powered ahead coming away from the second last to beat Torose by nine lengths.

“He liked the ground, although he wouldn’t want it winter-heavy,” reported Crowley. “He will now run in a three mile handicap hurdle at Galway.”
