Erins Own secretary launches funds plea
“Many local business firms and individuals have already responded with their customary generosity and we are eternally grateful for their massive support over the years”, says club secretary Martin Bowen.
“However, the burden needs to be shared, and, bar some notable exceptions, it staggers me why some of the multi nationals and thriving firms operating in the Glounthaune parish make little or no contribution.
“ Virtually every house in the parish has had some connection with the club but, like any business, we need funds for further growth. Quite simply, we can’t go it alone. Can there be a more worthy investment than in the youth of the area?”
Bowen added: “Over the past three years, the club has spent over €800,000 developing state-of-the-art facilities and with an extremely young population in the area, the club believes everybody has a responsibility to provide the sporting opportunities for its requirements.
“The facilities are in place, but now the challenge is to repay the existing debt and that is why we need help. We are delighted with the response to the race night and many of our supporters have taken out ads, sponsored dogs and races or sold tickets.
“However, there are still opportunities to contribute and to do so just contact any club officer”, concluded Bowen.
