Black Sam Bellamy set to make a quick return

BIG things were expected of Black Sam Bellamy as a full-brother to dual Derby winner Galileo but it has taken Aidan O’Brien’s charge a while to live up to his sibling’s achievements.

However, he finally came good in Group One company in the Gran Premio del Jockey Club e Coppa d’Oro in Milan at the weekend, and could be set to take make a quick reappearance on Sunday.

The Ballydoyle maestro is eyeing the French St Leger, the Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp for the Sadler’s Wells colt and said yesterday: ‘‘Black Sam Bellamy appears to have come out of his race in Milan well and he might go to the French St Leger at Longchamp on Sunday.
