Derby entries up at the yearling stage

THE 2004 Vodafone Derby, which will carry increased total prize money of £1,250,000, has attracted a total of 560 entries at the initial yearling entry stage, compared to 537 last year.

Of 175 different owners, the Maktoum family dominates the list with the highest number of entries 187. Sheikh Mohammed has 67 whilst his brother Hamdan Al Maktoum has 40 while there are 31 for Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum and 23 for Maktoum Al Maktoum. In addition, there are 20 under the Godolphin banner.

The leading European owner with entries is Sue Magnier, winning co-owner for the past two years, with 29, all trained by Aidan O'Brien.
