Vanilla Man can land National

The nine-year-old has won three of his last four races, the first over hurdles at the Punchestown Festival, and his last two by wide margins over the bigger obstacles.

He was successful over tonight's course in a Beginners Chase over two and a half miles in May, winning by no less than twenty five lengths from Albatros.

He went in again at Navan at the beginning of last month, making all over a similar trip to score by fifteen lengths from Clawick Connection, despite making a mistake at the last.

Although upped in class here, he still looks fairly handicapped and can see off Keeponthesunnyside, a good second to Aye Surely at Limerick 13 days ago on his seasonal debut. Charlie Swan, who saddled a double at Killarney on Wednesday, can take the European Breeders Fund Beginners Chase with Strong Project.

After finishing third to Sum Leader over hurdles at Navan, he went on to justify favouritism at Wexford recently and is sure to be well schooled over fences.
