Al looks the answer
Charlie Swan’s Sorry Al, with Ruby Walsh a significant booking, is the nap choice in the Kelly Green Laytown Maiden Hurdle at Bellewstown.
The five-year-old is clearly on the upgrade, running easily his best race to date in a competitive handicap at Galway on his latest appearance.
Sorry Al was beaten a neck and a head into third place behind Kentucky Charm and Sonnyanjoe, staying on dourly at the end of that two miles and five plus. This looks a much easier assignment.
Mark Prescott’s Red Damson is an interesting challenger for the Ray White Auctioneers’ Race. He is a useful sort, who might easily have been allowed take his chance in the Ebor at York today.
Red Damson ran a cracker at Newmarket last time, beaten into second spot in a handicap under 9-12, and is fancied to carry too many guns for the Galway winner, Pepperwood.
Tommy Stack’s Lightning Hit gets the nod in the Tally Ho Stud Median Auction Maiden. He was well touted to make a winning debut at Naas, but was beaten a length and a half by Kevin Prendergast’s highly-regarded first-timer, Rekaab.
Ease The Way, easily the highest rated in the contest, is the choice in the Dunsany Construction Hurdle.
Dermot Weld’s charge performed solidly at Galway when runner-up behind Young Elodie with subsequent winner, King Of Foxrock, in third spot.
Double Tree, who parted company with Ruby Walsh at the first when odds-on at Sligo, returns to the track with obvious prospects in the Terry Casey Memorial Maiden Hurdle.
