JAMIE SPENCER tightened his grip on the jockeys’ championship with 89-1 treble thanks to wins on Boanerges, Le Soleil and Tipsy Lad at Wolverhampton yesterday.

He is now 18 clear of his rival Seb Sanders, who was out of luck at Hamilton Park, in the title race with the scores standing at 144 to 126.

The Barney Curley-trained Le Soleil was backed into 6-4 favourite from 7-2 for the Lloyds TSB Financial Markets Banded Stakes and duly landed the money with a one-and-three-quarter-length verdict over Fillameena.
