Hong Kong betting pools may be opened

HONG KONG Jockey Club Chairman Ronald Arculli yesterday indicated the organisation might be willing to open up some of its massive betting pools to overseas markets in the future.

In his chairman's speech at the Club's Annual General Meeting, Arculli also revealed the possibility of beaming the former colony's races to more countries.

"There is a growing overseas interest in Hong Kong racing, and the Club was exploring the possibility of simulcasting its races to more countries," said the chairman.
