No decision on First Gold’s target
Although now rising 11, First Gold looked as good as ever last season when landing a big-race double at Aintree and Punchestown.
“We haven’t decided which way he will go yet but he’ll run at one of them. It just depends how the ground goes,” said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus, yesterday.
The Francois Doumen-trained gelding had a pipe-opener over hurdles in his native France last month in preparation for his Christmas engagements.
“He came out of his last race very well and Francois is very happy with him,” Berry added.
“You would be hoping he will run well as he seems to be in good form.”
