Sheer folly to oppose Dane
The daughter of Danehill landed some decent wagers at Gowran Park five days ago, backed from 6-1 to 7-2 favourite. She beat Lady Marian (rec. 9lbs) by half a length, but that gives no indication as to how much the selection had in hand. She won doing handstands, after being asked only to do the bare minimum in the closing stages by talented pilot, David Condon.
The performance certainly impressed the handicapper. He has raised the four-year-old a whopping 15lbs in future, but she runs here under a mandatory 5lbs penalty.
Christy Roche has prospects of a double with Puck Out and Liberty Boy. Puck Out, unbeaten in two outings, a bumper at Ballinbrobe and a Galway Maiden Hurdle, gets the nod in the Athleague Novice Hurdle, although facing some dangerous rivals
Liberty Boy, who beat Joe Hill (gave 5lbs) a cosy two lengths on this track earlier in the month, can confirm the placings, and also cope with Galway success story Easy Julia, in the Bumper.
Noel Meade’s Albrighton, who scored at Tramore on Thursday and previously at Sligo, can complete a quick hat-trick in the first division of the Budweiser Handicap.
