Refuse To Bend sold to Sheikh Mohammed
The Sadler's Wells colt, trained by Dermot Weld, has been sold in a private deal with Walter Haefner's Moyglare Stud.
John Ferguson, bloodstock adviser to Sheikh Mohammed, said: "We are delighted to have secured Refuse To Bend as a future Darley stallion.
"Sheikh Mohammed has kindly agreed to lease Refuse To Bend back to Mr Haefner so that the horse can run in the Breeders' Cup Mile in the Moyglare colours."
The statement added that no decision has yet been made as to whether Refuse To Bend will stay in training as a four-year-old or retire to stud.
The extremely well-bred three-year-old disappointed on his next start after his Newmarket success when sent off the 11-4 favourite for the Vodafone Derby.
However, he failed to stay the mile and a half trip and trailed in a well-beaten 13th of the 20 runners at Epsom.
He returned to a mile to account for Latino Magic in the Desmond Stakes at the Curragh, but ran too free on his latest start when 11th in the Prix du Moulin.
Refuse To Bend was unbeaten as a two-year-old, the second of his two victories coming in the National Stakes at the Curragh when he beat Aidan O'Brien's Van Nistelrooy by three-quarters of a length.
Weld added later that he was looking forward to taking Refuse To Bend to America later this month.
"I'm looking forward to training him for the Breeders' Cup Mile," he said.
"Santa Anita will suit him well as he's very effective going left handed.
"He put up an excellent performance in the 2000 Guineas.
"He's been a champion for me the best miler I've trained.
"I was unlucky not to win a Breeders' Cup Mile when Brief Truce was a very close third to Lure (in 1992). This is a better horse and I'm very hopeful he can win it."
