Misty Heights looks well up to the task

DERMOT WELD and Pat Smullen can combine to land the first two races at Tipperary this evening with the once-raced pair, Misty Heights and Favourite Nation.

Misty Heights looks well up to the task

Misty Heights gets the vote in the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden for fillies. The daughter of very promising stallion, Fasliyev, made an excellent start at Naas seventeen days ago.

She came with every chance at the furlong pole, but tired in the closing stages to finish a two length third behind Lord Admiral. The form appears solid considering fourth placed, Castledale, has won in the meantime. The selection has to tackle some interesting newcomers now, but looks well up to the task.

Favourite Nation is a confident choice to complete the double in the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden, this time for colts and geldings. Weld’s charge created a big impression when making his debut on this track earlier in the month. He was nicely fancied to get off the mark at the first time of asking, but so was the Ballydoyle newcomer, Moscow Ballet. As it turned out Moscow Ballet grabbed Favourite Nation in the final stride to score by a short head. Smullen’s mount can be trusted to set the record straight here.

The progressive Twiggy’s Sister gets a hopeful nod to provide the answer to the Fairy Bridge Listed Race. She ran her best race to date at Cork last time, when a neck second to John Oxx’s well-regarded Dossier, and a repeat of that effort will see her go close.

Oxx’s Mcqueenie can land the five furlongs Irish Stallions Farms Race. She ran fast for a long way, over six furlongs, when third to Simple Exchange at Cork and wasn’t knocked about when her chance was gone.

Hanorla, a maiden on the flat, but who has shown significant improvement over flights of late, is nap material in the Red Cross Tipperary Handicap.

Joe Crowley’s four-year-old has scored twice over hurdles and both successes have come on this track.
